This webinar will provide PRI signatories with a better understanding of what investors can do to improve director nomination practices and enable boards to work most effectively. Research for companies in the US and France will be presented.

Investors play a key role in the election and oversight of corporate boards, ranging from direct involvement in nomination committees to exercising their voting rights. A robust director nomination process is of fundamental importance to board effectiveness. At the same time, nomination mechanisms fluctuate by region with different standards, governance models and market culture. An upcoming report on director nominations including a review of practices in seven markets will be presented at the webinar, along with research findings on leading practices and major gaps in how companies disclose and manage director nominations in the US and France. Participants will discuss how these issues can be addressed, and opportunities to get involved in an upcoming collaborative engagement with companies in the two markets.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Frank Curtiss, Head of Corporate Governance, Railpen Investments
  • George Dallas, Independent Advisor
  • Chris Anker, Corporate Governance and Engagement Officer, Church of England Pensions Board
  • Jean-Nicolas Caprasse, Head of European Governance Business – Director ISS Europe, ISS
