PRI webinar: ESG Investor Briefing | Pirelli

Pirelli hosted its ESG Investor Briefing as part of a joint PRI-UN Global Compact initiative designed to improve company-investor communications on ESG information, following the model of traditional financial quarterly calls.

During the 1-hour webcast conference call Mr. Marco Tronchetti Provera, Chairman and CEO, and Mr. Maurizio Sala, Head of Planning & Control Department and Filippo Bettini, Head of Sustainability & Risk Management presented the company’s ESG value drivers using a framework developed in collaboration with Global Compact LEAD companies and PRI investors, followed by a 30 minutes Q&A session with participating investors.

The Pirelli ESG Investor Briefing is a part of a series of 10-15 pilot presentations by Global Compact companies in 2012-2013 designed to test and refine the ESG Investor Briefing concept and develop a framework complementary to sustainability reporting for corporate communication with the investor community on strategic ESG risks and opportunities.

  Mr. Marco Tronchetti Provera, Chairman and CEO

Currently Chairman and Managing Director of Pirelli & C. S.p.A. and Chairman of Pirelli Tyre S.p.A.; Chairman of the Pirelli Foundation, whose aim is to promote and publicize expressions of culture and art, and of the Hangar Bicocca Foundation. Chairman of CAMFIN, a holding company, major shareholder of Pirelli & C. S.p.A.. He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of G.P.I. – Gruppo Partecipazioni Industriali S.p.A. and of the Board of General Partners of Marco Tronchetti Provera & C. S.a.p.a.

Additionally, he is Chairman of Prelios S.p.A. Chairman of the Fondazione Silvio Tronchetti Provera, whose mission is to promote scientific and technological research in Italy. Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mediobanca – Banca di Credito Finanziario S.p.A.. Member of the Executive Board of Confindustria, Board Member of RCS Quotidiani S.p.A., of the Bocconi University of Milan, of F.C. Internazionale Milano S.p.A., of Alitalia – Compagnia Aerea Italiana S.p.A., of Fondazione Cerba and of Eurostazioni S.p.A.. Honorary Co-Chairman for the Italian branch of the Council for the United States and Italy, of which he was Italian Co-Chairman for 15 years, and Member of the Italian Group of the Trilateral Commission. Member of the Steering Committee of Assonime and Assolombarda and member of the International Advisory Board of Allianz.

  Mr. Maurizio Sala, Head of Planning & Control Department

In 1989 he joined Pirelli Tyre as junior controller within the Administration and Control Department, covering different roles with increasing responsibility of Planning, Industrial and Commercial Control both for the Italian company and the head quarter.

He was appointed Head of Tyre Administration and Control Department for the Italian company in 1998. In 2000, transferred to Latin America, he was Regional Director of Tyre Administration and Control. After returning to Italy in 2002, he was appointed Tyre Chief Director of Administration and Control Department. Since September 2009 he has held the charge of Head of Group Planning and Control Department.

Mr. Filippo Bettini, Head of Sustainability & Risk Governance

Entered in Pirelli in 2008, before the current responsibility, he managed some of the non-core activities of the Group, while actively cooperating in company portfolio reshaping. From 2001 to 2008, he worked in Telecom Italia Group covering roles in different positions in innovation management. For two years was Head of Strategy.

From 1985 to 2001, he worked in biomedical and biotechnology field both in multinational companies and academic research centers. Filippo sits on CSR Europe Board and is a member of several European Commission working groups aimed to address sustainable mobility programs.
