Director of Implementation Support

Job description:

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced responsible investment professional to develop the implementation support activities within of one of the most vibrant and fast growing initiatives in the area of responsible investment. You would be a member of the senior management team of the United-Nations backed PRI Secretariat and would be leading, overseeing and developing a comprehensive toolbox of implementation support resources and activities to assist signatories in integrating the Principles across their portfolios. This includes developing support activities looking at how the principles can apply within different asset classes, different types of investors, and different investment approaches. You would lead the development of guidance in the form of best practice guides, case studies, webinars, events, training and other activities as appropriate. You would also oversee our engagement clearinghouse and reporting and assessment work streams.

Specific tasks include:

  • Managing a range of functions undertaken within the ‘Implementation Support’ portfolio. The role has significant people management responsibility (more than 12 staff) over a variety of implementation support teams within the functional group.
  • Identifying areas for strategic growth in implementation of the PRI and developing and implementing a strategy for the implementation support offering going forward.
  • Leading all of the best practice work streams and development of new areas.
  • Working with the Executive Director and management team to support the implementation of the strategy and the business plan as required.

Requirements and likely experience:

  • Demonstrated capacity to think strategically around responsible investment and ESG best practice issues and to ensure that the implementation support we offer to our signatories is effective and responsive to signatory needs;
  • Responsible investment, mainstream, themed or SRI investment management, analysis, corporate governance, asset consulting or other relevant experience to implementation of the PRI within investment institutions. A deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities around implementation of responsible investment within both asset owner and investment manager organisations, particularly in the mainstream, is essential.
  • Experience with the negotiation and development of best practice guidance or standards through inclusive industry-wide processes.
  • Strong management skills and demonstrated ability to develop and manage teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the capacity to contribute to the management team and to provide high level strategic advice and support to the Executive Director, Board and its committees;
  • A philosophical commitment to ESG/RI and the goals of the United Nations.
  • Right to work in the UK or sufficient qualifications to obtain a Tier 1 visa.
  • Team player – the successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of being positive and constructive within team environments.

Administrative Assistant, Investor Engagement Team

The PRI Engagement Clearinghouse is a web-based forum for investor collaboration on shareholder and other engagement activities on environmental, social and governance issues with companies and policy makers. The successful candidate will be expected to provide coordinative and administrative support to the managers of collaborative engagements.

Duration: permanent role, 12 month rolling contracts (with 3 month trial)

Remuneration: £1,667 per month, £20,000 per year (plus 5% pension contribution)
Job description: The contractor will be required to perform the following services:

  • Posting new collaborative proposals on the Clearinghouse website
  • Posting agendas and documentation of online seminars on the PRI intranet
  • Organizing conference calls and meetings
  • Coordinating joint letters and mailing services
  • Taking notes and writing reports
  • Preparing power point presentations
  • Creating and sending out alerts to signatories on collaborative initiatives and online seminars
  • Supporting the organization and providing technical support during online seminars on ESG topics
  • Organizing online tests for speakers of online seminars
  • Editing audio files
  • Responding to queries by signatories about Clearinghouse activities
  • Sending requests of updates on collaborative engagements to PRI signatories
  • Preparing drafts on Clearinghouse initiatives and online seminars for monthly newsletters
  • Collecting and inserting data, running statistics on collaborative engagements and online seminars

Requirements:

  • University degree
  • Right to work in the UK or sufficient qualifications to secure a Tier 1 visa
  • At least 4 year experience in administrative and coordinative activities
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge and understanding of shareholder engagement activities
  • Good working knowledge of relevant IT (e.g. Excel, Word, Wordpress, Audio editing and databases will be useful)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • High level written English (‘Plain English’ style), and ideally one other language relevant to financial markets. Writing, editing and proofreading skills will be viewed positively.

  • Willing to conduct conference calls in different time zones where necessary (not a typical 9-5 job)

About the RI Academy:

In February 2009 RIAA received a grant of $2.5 million from Federal Government Treasury, via the former Minister for Superannuation, Senator Nick Sherry, to embark on its most ambitious project to date – the development of the world’s first Responsible Investment Academy. The Academy is different to other learning that has taken place in the RI arena in that the content is designed for a global audience and all lessons will be delivered online via a robust training portal. The RI Academy will provide structured learning pathways for investment professionals to obtain experience, contacts, advancement, knowledge and qualifications in the area of responsible investment. The RI Academy has developed a formal partnership with the United Nations backed Principles for Responsible Investment as well as Yale University’s Millstein Centre for Corporate Governance and Performance.

The Role of Business Development Manager:

Working closely with the General Manager, the role of Business Development Manager will include the management of global product distribution and sales and support in the execution of marketing campaigns. You will be instrumental in developing key affiliate relationships and business contacts required to establish a robust long-term revenue model for the RI Academy. You will be generating leads for possible sales, follow–up sales activity and create formal proposal documents. You will report to the General Manager of the RI Academy. You will assist the General Manager in setting sales and distribution goals, monitors success, address performance gaps, and related strategies based on metrics and observations. You will be working closely with the Academy team comprising internal staff and external consultants and suppliers, including Public Relations and Market Research consultants.

Business Development Manager will also monitor industry and competitive trends to help identify new opportunities and help prioritize product/service development efforts. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for the campaign budgets and their results to determine return on investment.
