Reynolds & Gifford Grant_2024

Date: Monday, 25 March 2024
Time: 14:30 - 18:30 GMT
Address: Barings, 20 Old Bailey, London EC4M 7AN

The Reynolds and Gifford PRI Grant is a new funding initiative for innovative academic research in responsible investment with a focus on transition finance that will be launched at this event. Leading academics and investors are invited to learn about the initiative, how to apply for this exciting opportunity and to engage with current and past PRI leaders.

The initiative recognises the inspirational contribution of James Gifford and Fiona Reynolds to responsible investment and will make a grant of £300,000 available to a university or consortium via a Call for Research.

The purpose of the grant is to:

  • Contribute towards new RI research in transition finance that benefits investors, policymakers and society
  • Enable greater collaboration and interaction between scholars of the global south and north, e.g., via events, doctoral colloquia
  • Support PhD students from historically underrepresented groups with their studies, including internships at the PRI
  • Provide opportunities to break down barriers e.g., geographical, disciplinary, economic and between academia and practice.

About the event

Attendees will engage with and discuss investor needs and contribute to setting the agenda for evidence-based, practical insights from academic research. The discussion will focus on transition finance and the global north and south divide. It will examine areas such as the impacts of climate change exacerbating existing vulnerabilities and inequalities, what is needed from investors and investment for climate transition in developing countries and encouraging research on systems-level enablers for RI in the global south.
