Following the launch of the PRI’s Technical asset owner guides on the selection, appointment and monitoring (SAM) of investment managers, the PRI wants to highlight innovative and practical examples of responsible investment (RI) in SAM. Case studies are one of the main ways in which the PRI shares knowledge and promotes best practice among its signatories. Below we explain our objectives and criteria for PRI case studies and give guidance to ensure case studies are of consistently high quality.
PRI signatories that employ third-party or internal investment managers are welcome to submit a proposal for a case study. We explicitly invite asset owners to put forward submissions. The PRI’s intention is to include approved case studies and where applicable practical tools and frameworks alongside existing materials and publish them on the PRI website.
We are particularly interested in case studies that provide examples of asset owners:
- Innovative processes utilised in selecting asset managers;
- Integrating ESG issues or factors into contractual or legal agreements on segregated mandates;
- Monitoring of asset managers;
- Approaches to selecting, appointing or monitoring in alternative asset classes/private markets or passive investment managers.
