Job Description
The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for providing 2nd line and 3rd line support to end users (occasionally including external customers), supporting business systems, mentoring 1st line support and general infrastructure maintenance and updating of IT systems and services (patching, backup, security). The support and infrastructure day to day activities will take up approximately 30-40% of your time.
You will be working on IT infrastructure projects (both IT and business ones enabled by technology), supporting the team on the technical readiness activities.
The work will be based primarily in the UK time zone, but candidates will need to work and accommodate our international colleagues. While we do offer some great flexible working options, as part of this support role there is an expectation to be in the office 2 days a week.
Core Responsibilities
Incident Management & support
- Provide 2nd / 3rd support, with overflow support and assistance to 1st to cover annual leave, illness, and busy times.
- Perform root cause analysis to identify issues and implement solutions.
- Prioritise & investigate incidents and seek timely workarounds and publication of solutions. Escalate incidents, communicate progress, document solutions and close incidents.
Infrastructure change and security
- Monitor, maintain, install & configure all aspects of the infrastructure, ensuring appropriate uptime, performance, quality & reliability of services (internal users and external customers).
- Setup, configuration, and deployment of mobile devices.
- Carry out periodic preventative hardware maintenance on an agreed schedule.
- Maintain IT hardware and software licence asset register to ensure accuracy.
- Assist with compliance towards data security, data protection and other legislative requirements, including maintenance and patching of our on-premises hosted and cloud-based infrastructure.
- Support Operational Resilience Analyst on the security technologies, as required.
- Manage/Maintain backups & assist with annual DR tests.
Projects - Business and Technology
- Manage and assist in the deployment of hardware and software to support business projects and technology refreshes.
- In collaboration with the senior IT team members assist in migrating our office and co-located servers to the cloud.

Technical Competencies and Experience
- Valuable experience supporting users and infrastructure with a mixture of on premise, hosted and cloud.
- Office365, SharePoint, Teams, Exchange Online, Intune and Azure AD
- Intune: Policies, Compliance Profiles, Scripting, CA, MFA, Software Deployment
- Good knowledge of Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 and Windows 11 Setup/Administration, Azure
- Network security
- Networking, Firewalls, DNS, DHCP, Wi-fi, VLAN, VPN, Cisco Meraki
- Experience in PaaS / IaaS / SaaS / Cloud (Azure) is desirable
- Windows Virtual Desktop
- Atlassian (desirable)
