In January 2018, the PRI introduced a set of open and closed indicator questions based on TCFD recommendations into our reporting framework. The indicators are design to complement, not replace, TCFD reporting and are a means for signatories to try climate-related reporting and compare their responses with their peers. While indicators were voluntary for signatories to report to in 2018 and 2019, in 2020 the governance and strategy indicators became mandatory to report on but still voluntary to disclose. The PRI climate snapshot provides aggregated analysis of the responses to these indicator questions. Key highlights from this includes:

• 2,097 investors reporting, with $97 trillion in assets, in 2020.This represents a 3.5x increase, as a result of the mandatory reporting requirement, over the 591 investors who reported in 2019.
• 410 investors have opted to publish at least part of their responses to the TCFD based indicators. These responses are available in the links to the climate transparency reports below.
• Anonymous interpretation of the responses grouping signatories across four categories: Aware (1546 investors, 74%), Building capacity (374 investors, 18%), Responsible (142 investors, 6%) and Strategic (41 investors, 2%)

As previously announced, this theme from this year PRI Leaders Group will be climate reporting to the PRI. The investors in this group which will be drawn from the strategic category above, a combined PRI reporting score across all modules and announced in the latter part of this year.
