Webinar: Sourcing good practice - PRI's new engagement on supply chain labour risks
We are pleased to invite you to a webinar on the forthcoming PRI-coordinated engagement on labour practices in agricultural supply chains on Wednesday 14 September 15:00 – 16:00 BST (10:00 – 11:00 EDT).
Working conditions in agriculture continue to be subject to increased scrutiny given recent scandals – related to forced labour in the Thai seafood industry or in cocoa supply chains – as well as regulatory developments such as the UK’s Modern Slavery Act and California’s Transparency in Supply Chains Act, among others. These developments can pose significant legal and reputational risks to both companies and their investors.
In view of signatories’ continued interest in the sector, the PRI, with the guidance of the Advisory Committee on Labour Practices, is launching a new, in-depth engagement which will seek to build on learnings and achievements from phase 1 by targeting an expanded group of companies and focusing in particular on improving supply chain traceability and supplier relationships.
Lauren Compere, Director of Shareowner Engagement at Boston Common Asset Management will present the key outcomes and learnings from the recent report “From Poor Working Conditions to Forced Labour – What’s Hidden in your Portfolio?” and Jelena Stamenkova van Rumpt, Advisor Responsible Investment at PGGM Investments will share the plans for phase 2 of the engagement, and the benefits of working collaboratively through the PRI. The presentations will be followed by Q&A.
