Financial Institutions, Business & Climate Change: Addressing Risks & Finding Opportunities in a Changing World

The PRI is pleased to invite you to a pre-Davos dialogue, Financial Institutions, Business and Climate Change:  Addressing Risks and Finding Opportunities in a Changing World in Zurich.

Key takeaways will be carried to the World Economic Forum’s 2018 Annual Meeting in Davos.

According to the International Finance Corporation, markets for climate-smart business solutions in renewable energy, green buildings, climate-smart agriculture and sustainable urban infrastructure already exceed US$1 trillion.  Christiana Figures has challenged PRI signatories to invest 1% of their assets under management in low carbon investment.

The PRI, Swiss Government, World Bank Group, Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition and CDP are convening business, financial sector and government leaders for an interactive dialogue on climate transition.  Discussion questions featuring the Buzzmaster platform will include:

  • What are the key risks and opportunities today – and in the future?
  • What tools and strategies can help “stress test” different scenarios?  What is the role of disclosure, green finance, carbon pricing and science-based targets?
  • What is the role of government in mitigating risk and unlocking opportunities?

Speakers include: State Secretary Jörg Gasser, State Secretariat for International Financial Matters, Switzerland; Dr. Ma Jun, Director of the Center for Finance and Development, Tsinghua National Institute of Financial Research; Feike Sijbesma, CEO Royal DSM; Alison Martin, Group Chief Risk Officer, Zurich Insurance Group; Helen Mountford, Program Director, New Climate Economy project and Sagarika Chatterjee, Associate Director and Head of Climate Policy, PRI.
