The Path Back to Stronger Long-Term Growth and Higher Investment Returns via Prioritizing Innovation: Asset Owners as Stewards of the Economy
The Ethical Capitalism Group, in partnership with PRI, is delighted to announce a special summit: "The Path Back to Stronger Long-Term Growth and Higher Investment Returns via Prioritizing Innovation: Asset Owners as Stewards of the Economy.”
America‘s publicly-listed companies - and indeed the economy at large - are at a critical juncture. But as shareholders of these companies, asset owners are in a significant position to help steer companies in the right direction by addressing the three critical inter-connected growth issues: economic inequality, the lack of broad-based innovation, and the productivity crisis.
Corporate profit growth is currently at the low end of its historic range since 1960, at just 5.35%, compared to the high end of 11.5%.
Real returns for US equities over the next 20 years are forecast at just 5% p/a (using McKinsey Global Institute numbers, for example), down from 8% p/a for the period from 1985 to 2014.
What factors are behind this slump in the future expected growth rate and equity investment returns?
After our speakers‘ sessions, we will explore mechanisms and pathways for pension funds, endowment funds and other asset owners to harness and implement the critical thought leadership of our speakers, via stewardship and engagement as shareholders of America‘s publicly-listed companies, and thereby open the pathway to stronger long-term profit growth and investment returns.
The aim of this summit is to achieve interactive dialogue, with as many of the participants as possible contributing. To this extent, members of the press will not be present.
