PRI appoints new Director of Networks and Global Outreach

LONDON, 13 May 2015

The Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) today announced that it has appointed Lorenzo Saá as Director of Networks and Global Outreach. He will take up his new role 15 June.

Mr Saá, who joined the PRI in 2009, is currently Associate Director of Signatory Services. Prior to this role, he spent five years as Head of Reporting and Assessment.

In his new role, Mr Saá will be responsible for implementing the PRI’s global outreach and signatory relations strategy, working closely with PRI staff based around the world. He will continue to be based in London and will report to PRI’s Managing Director Fiona Reynolds.

Before joining the PRI, Mr Saá held project manager and financial analyst roles at UniCredit and MicroRate, overseeing microfinance initiatives and advising on responsible investments. He also served as an independent consultant for development organisations such as the World Bank and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). He holds a BA in Business and Economics from the Università Cattolica, Milan, and a joint MBA/Masters in International Public Policy from SDA Bocconi, Milan and SAIS – Johns Hopkins, Washington, D.C.

In a related move, Maria Lettini, Associate Director of Networks and Global Outreach, who previously focused on signatory recruitment worldwide, will now head up the PRI Americas team. This aligns with PRI’s focus on North America, particularly the US, where it will be opening a dedicated office later this year. Consolidating a regional strategy will better enable PRI to recognise synergies and facilitate cross-market knowledge-sharing to both North and South America. Ms. Lettini has been with the PRI since 2011 and has substantial previous experience in working with institutional investors in both the US and South America.

“Lorenzo has been with the PRI almost since its inception,” said Fiona Reynolds, Managing Director of the PRI, “and has been heavily involved with developing the reporting framework and running signatory services. This experience, combined with his long-standing relationships with many of our key signatories, will be a huge asset in his new role.”

Commenting on his new position, Mr Saá said: “During my time with the PRI, its signatory base has grown significantly and we will continue to reach out to key asset owners to sign the Principles, but we will also work hard to deliver relevant services to our signatories across the globe.”
