PRI welcomes three new members to Private Equity Advisory Committee
LONDON, 5 January 2017 – The Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) is delighted to announce the appointment of three new signatory representatives to the Private Equity Advisory Committee:
- Candice Brenet, Managing Director and Head of CSR and Responsible Investment at Ardian
- Jie Gong, Partner, Hong Kong at Pantheon
- Ana Lei Ortiz, Managing Director, Relationship Management at Hamilton Lane
The appointments coincide with a concerted effort by the PRI private equity programme to expand its foothold in the US and Asia. In 2017, the PRI will co-host its first Responsible Investment Forum US with PEI on 7-8 March in New York, and a third ESG Forum with AVCJ in Asia (date and location tbd).
The Committee advises the PRI on the strategy and execution of the private equity programme. For a full list of members and more information about the Committee’s duties, see here. The current primary purpose of the PRI private equity programme is to streamline LP-GP reporting on ESG. At the end of 2015, the PRI Limited Partners’ Responsible Investment Due Diligence Questionnairewas published, and this year the PRI will publish guidance on the incorporation of EGS provisions in Limited Partnership Agreements, and develop guidance on how to monitor ESG integration by GPs during the lifetime of the fund.
The new members are effective from the start of 2017, and replace three signatory organisations that are stepping down having served three years on the Committee. The PRI would like to thank Adam Frost (previously of Partners Group, and now at Bridges Ventures), Millie Chow (British Columbia Investment Management Corporation) and Darren Massara (NewQuest Capital Partners) for the time and expertise that they dedicated to their roles on the Committee.
The Committee will be chaired in 2017 by Jesus Arguelles of Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan; its outreach work will be supervised by Anders Strömblad of AP2 and its ESG integration work will be supervised by David Russell of USS. Signatories can sign up for monthly updates from the PRI private equity programme via the Signatory Portal. For any questions about the programme, contact its manager, Natasha Buckley, directly.
