Close to 1000 delegates gathered together in Berlin for PRI in Person, the leading global conference in the responsible investment calendar, providing a platform for PRI signatories and other investment professionals to learn, network and collaborate in person over several days. The annual event allows attendees to discuss topical issues and share experiences from their own organisation and region with peers from around the world.

During the PRI’s tenth anniversary year, PRI in Person 2016 took place in Singapore on 6 to 8 September. We brought the world’s leading responsible investment event to Asia for the first time since 2008.

Why Asia and why Singapore?

The PRI is working to strengthen its capacity and expertise in this crucial region, where responsible investment continues to be in the early stages of development.

Singapore is a global financial centre at the leading edge of sustainability. The city has established a series of long-term goals to reconcile rapid economic development and environmental sustainability. Marina Bay Sands has been formally recognised for its eco-friendly initiatives and efforts towards sustainability and efficiency.

PRI in Person 2015 drew in a diverse, global audience and attracted significant media attention. It was also the largest responsible investment conference ever held. As one speaker said: “Having 1,000 people attend a responsible investment conference 10 years ago was unthinkable, five years ago unimaginable and today it is reality”.

The comprehensive programme included a series of inspiring keynote addresses from within and outside the industry. The conference kicked off with the official Market Open Ceremony at the London Stock Exchange and the launch of the Sustainable Stock Exchanges’ Model Guidance. Throughout days two and three, delegates were able to participate in a series of interactive plenaries and roundtables as well as a range of practical breakout sessions addressing active ownership, ESG integration within each asset class, the latest academic research and a dedicated stream for trustees and asset owners.
