Part 1: Climate scenario modelling
Time: 15:00 - 17:30 BST

Climate scenario modelling is an essential tool in investors’ decision-making, helping to assess how various climate risks could impact financial institutions. These models support data-driven strategies by simulating potential risk combinations and guiding mitigation efforts. While scenario modelling has significantly evolved, it remains complex and assumption-driven, which introduces limitations and uncertainties. Given the heavy reliance on third-party data providers, key questions arise:

  • How can the quality of input data be improved so that the output data is more accurate?
  • Would better education on scenarios that underpin the models empower investors?
  • What are the most effective tools currently available for assessing physical risk?
