Job Description

The Account Manager, Fundraising, will manage a portfolio that will steward approximately 12 organisations, supporting approximately 18 grants that these organisations currently provide, continue to cultivate relationships with existing funders, while support on select new prospects identified.

The Account Manager, Fundraising will help drive fundraising efforts for projects across PRI beyond this portfolio, seeking to renew and uplift current funder relationships.

The Account Manager, Fundraising will also work closely with staff across the PRI to develop effective Ways of Working for grants delivery and management, lead on grant reporting requirements, articulate nuanced and high-impact strategies, communicate impact to funders and engage funders as participants in PRI’s programmes where necessary.

Core Responsibilities

Steward a Portfolio of Funders

Oversee the completion of all aspects of proposal development for renewed and new scopes of work. This includes learning the evolving interests of funders; framing and editing proposals to meet funders’ interests; strategically connecting scopes of work that span multiple program teams; facilitating internal decisions about proposing new scopes of work outside annual business planning; guiding project teams on how to present their work.

  • Monitor progress after grants are awarded; anticipate and seize opportunities for providing funders with real-time updates.
  • Oversee all aspects of financial and narrative progress reports to funders.
  • Actively steward relationships with relevant staff of existing funders including in-person meetings, event invitations, phone calls, and off-cycle programmatic updates by email.
  • Track, manage, and meet deadlines for funders in the portfolio and assure compliance with foundation requirements.
  • Maintain careful records including managing foundation records in Salesforce database while delegating data entry tasks as needed.
  • Work with relevant teams to develop grant proposal budgets and review financial reports.

Renew and Uplift Funder Relationships

  • Proactively develop, articulate and drive renewal opportunities with funders after consultation with relevant project teams to ensure the full range of PRI’s strategic focus areas are being realised.

Participate in Fundraising Operations and Management

  • Input into forecasting revenue from current and prospective funders, reporting as needed to PRI leadership.
  • Process grant agreements and update Salesforce with reporting deadlines.
  • Support the development of grant processes to ensure efficient and consistent grants management.
  • Participate in the creation of the Fundraising Team’s annual workplan, critical to PRI’s growth.
  • Work closely with project teams to track, assess, and document progress towards meeting grant deliverables and programmatic goals.

Person Specification

  • Significant fundraising/development experience required; proven experience securing and managing six and seven-figure grants.
  • Knowledge of standard development practices and techniques, proposal writing, and prospect research. Experience in writing grant proposals is a strong plus.
  • Excellent organizational abilities; demonstrated capacity to handle and prioritize multiple tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines, take precise notes, and work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainability issues, a plus.
  • Excellent written communication and verbal presentation skills.
  • A collaborative and consultative approach to working with others & committed to fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to developing others and a growth mindset, actively pursuing continuous professional and personal development.
  • Excellent networking, relationship management and interpersonal skills and experience of building strong and productive relationships at all levels of an organisation.
  • Proficient using database systems, word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and e-mail computer applications – Salesforce and MS Office Suite.
  • Language skills, other than English, are desirable.
