Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China has announced that they have joined the Climate Action 100+ as a participant.

They are the first Chinese asset owner to sign up to the initiative, reflecting the growing momentum in investor stewardship activity in China and across Asia.

Asian investors with US$5 trillion in assets are now signatories to the CA100+.

“We are delighted to welcome Ping An to the Climate Action 100+” said Fiona Reynolds, CEO of PRI. “As an influential long-term investor, their commitment and leadership will be vital to accelerating action on climate change in China and beyond. We look forward to working with Ping An.”

In September, Ping An became the first Chinese asset owner signatory to the PRI. A major milestone in the progression of ESG and responsible investing in the region.

Globally, more than 420 investors with more than USD $38 trillion in assets under management have signed on to the Climate Action 100+.

Participants to the Climate Action 100+ are responsible for engaging with companies directly. Participants include asset owners, investment managers and engagement service providers.
