The war in Ukraine, alongside the unexpected, renewed focus on energy security and related debates on maintaining the focus on net zero commitments have prompted an update of the PRI’s EU climate policy roadmap (published in October 2020), which reflects the release of the EU REPowerEU plan and the ongoing negotiations under the Fit for 55 package. The PRI prepared an analysis of the climate-related policies that would help leverage investors’ interests in supporting the EU’s journey to net zero and at the same time addressing concerns over energy security: If acted upon effectively, these measures would help fulfil the EU’s commitments to 2030 and cement the EU’s role as a global leader in climate action.
